There are continually complex environmental issues occurring in the Kalamazoo community, and it’s hard to keep all of the pieces together. Through collaborative effort we will present information and connect the community with places that they can find more information on various topics of concern.
Air Pollution is an ongoing concern, especially on the Northside of Kalmazoo.
Graphic Packaging International has a plant located on the North Side of Kalamazoo with a number of environmental violations racking up recently and there are a lot of unanswered questions in the community.
The Northwest corner along Asylum Lake Preserve is under threat of being developed into a car wash.
The Kalamazoo community has come out in large numbers to oppose the potential of a carwash to be established upslope from Asylum Lake. The now one combined parcel in that corner is owned by a carwash developer (Drive N Shine) who has not given up trying to build one yet.
